HOW I GREW MY NAILS

I've been a nail biter since middle school. My nails were always nubs and pretty ugly looking. Getting acrylics seemed like the choice for me but they're painful and expensive. I picked up tricks that helped me stop biting my nails completely. Here is how I went from an adamant nail biter to a girl with long nails.

Changing habits is never easy, especially ones that help combat stress. I bit my nails throughout my time in dance school, middle school, high school and any place that could create stress. It soon became an unconscious habit that I felt I couldn't stop.
The Obvious Solution
In 9th grade I first got acrylic nails. They were aesthetic, there was room for nail art and every girl seemed to be getting them.
I tried acrylics for years. I would get them every month so I constantly got to try new colors. However, they were hard to maintain. The first week when they were done they would be the ideal length. However, soon when my natural nails underneath would begin to grow the length made it difficult to do everyday tasks. The sudden change in length meant it was easier for them to catch as the glue began to loose its strength they would snap off easily. That in itself was painful - there's been some pretty horrendous moments. The natural nails underneath were weak, damaged with multiple layers ripped off. This meant they would break easily and I would be back to biting my nails.

I still get the urge to bite my nails and from time to time when my nail has snagged I'll bite my nails. However, .
